Cancellation policy for day tours

  • 10% of the price of your tour is non-refundable, this percentage reflects our cost of booking & preparing your tour.
  • Cancelling your day trip less than 14 days before your departure you will be refunded 70% of the trip price.
  • Cancelling your day trip with less than two days notice (48 hours) no refund will be given.

Refund payment

Skálakot cannot be held responsible for the change of currency exchange rate.

Currency exchange rate for refund payment is based on the currency exchange rate on the day of the refund payment. Not on the currency exchange rate of the day when the booking was made.

 

Day tours – Terms and Conditions

Please be advised that all trips are undertaken on the responsibility of our participants. All participants shall, at all times, comply strictly with all instruction from Skálakot staff to avoid any unnecessary risk or damage at any kind. Customers are responsible for damage caused by their own actions, both to Skálakot and third parties.

Skálakot reserves the full right to change or cancel a departure under any circumstances. Such as weather, that may affect the safety of the group, clients or employees of the company. The passenger is responsible for damage on equipment or devices due to their unsafe action or behavior. Skálakot is not responsible for accidents, illness, natural disasters, weather or other factors beyond the control of Skálakot.

Clients are responsible for their own journey to and from Skálakot and are therefore responsible for their own actions and any damage they may cause to themselves, Skálakot or against other third parties.

The weather and conditions

All adventure trips and outdoor activities are weather and condition dependent. We reserve the right to change your itinerary or cancel your trip with your safety in mind. Please keep in mind that Iceland is and will always be Iceland, the weather changes fast on our northern island and with it conditions change.

Travel insurance

As with any and all world travel, we strongly recommend that you buy a travel insurance policy in your home country that covers your cost should you have to cancel on short notice. This kind of travel insurance is not expensive and frequently covers other risks. In general, travel insurances are a good idea to have when you are on the move in the world.

Alcohol and drugs

We reserve the right to refuse participation to clients we believe are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, in such circumstances no refunds shall be given. Our guides reserve the right to refuse participation to any customer whose conduct or manner is likely to cause offense, upset or put other passengers in danger. In such cases, full cancellation charges apply.

Jurisdiction

If there is some disagreement between us and our clients. We will always do our best to find a solution that everyone can agree on. 
If an acceptable solution can not be found. We reserve the right to solve the matter before a court, for a final solution. All cases relating to Skalakot shall be operated before the District Court of South Iceland (Héraðsdómi Suðurlands).

Privacy Policy

We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. About sharing your data with the third party.

We will share your information with our guides and our staff taking care of bookings and managing schedule if needed. We only disclose the minimum information that is required for any given task and we do not sell or share your data with anyone else. Under special circumstances, we may also share your details (such as to emergency services) or when we believe in good faith that it is required by law.

During the booking process, the required information will be stored in the booking system (bokun.is) (first name, last name, title, email address and phone number) so we can make sure that the booking process will be smooth and we are able to contact you about your booking. Example, to modify the booking if needed.

We might contact you after the tour to ask for feedback about the tour.

Marketing

We might us some pictures or videos from the tour for marketing on our web page or social media.
